It's been estimated that up to $18bn in aid money has been promised to Afghanistan to rebuild schools, hospitals and eradicate the opium trade. But where has it gone?

Eight years after the fall of Kabul, reporter Paul Moreira went to the city and found not a single school has been built and a hospital he visited was falling to peices. But there is one sector that is booming: the construction of luxury villas.

In one district of Kabul, villas are being built with lightning speed, while public properties and land are falling into disrepair.

The level of corruption and crumbling public services are the major arguments used by the Taliban against the government. This first-hand account of life in Afghanistan today explains why the insurgents are making so much headway – not just in taking back territory but in winning the hearts and minds of the people.

Q&A

After the screening, Paul Moreira will talk about how he goes about filming in dangerous environments and how to investigate corruption.
